Every time I drive to the central coast and drive through Cachuma Pass, I drive past this perfect open field off the side of the road. It is surrounded by gorgeous green hills and has the most perfect oak trees and is practically begging for me to stop. As Adam and I headed to my cousins gorgeous NYE wedding a couple months ago, we passed this spot and finally I said, “let’s stop and set up the tripod!” First off, I am beyond thankful that Adam is always so willing to do this and secondly that he is ridiculously photogenic and makes taking photos look like a walk through the park. So, we did just that. We set up our tripod, busted out the remote and took some photos. We also set up Adam’s Mamiya and put on the timer for some lovely film shots.
I feel like it’s so important for couples to get in front of the camera. Last year I made him (ahem, us) a book of our first year together, it’s full of memories, stories and of course, photos. We plan on making one every year now so every time we’re out and about and I bust out my camera, I say “It’s for the book” and then we have to comply ; )
The photos aren’t always perfect, most of these are out of focus and my hair looks flat but I love them endlessly anyways. It was the last day of 2013 and the perfect way to commemorate what a wonderful year it has been.
On January 1st, we trekked back to LA and as we passed Los Olivos we decided to travel through Figueroa Mountain and explore. It is SO gorgeous there, of course the mountain is where Figueroa Farmhouse lives so we had to drive up to the top to sneak a peak. We walked some trails and, of course, set up the tripod again.
